In the artist's view, little time is left before society deisintegrates. Nevertheless, we find reminders of a once flourishing world as it existed aeons ago, but which are now in the midst of a very advanced process of decay. Every whit as much as anything existing on this terrestrial orb, humankind is decaying in a sequential process of exhaustion and desiccation. Despite the extreme pessimism of this vision, in this painting, the artist is still able to imagine a new world that is aborning Phoenix-like from the ashes and debris of the old one. Thus, using the ovoid motif of rich association once more, he shows us a new world emerging in pristine form from a world egg in the very process of hatching.
