Inaugural ballet performances opened with two famous classics, “SLEEPING BEAUTY” and “THE NUTCRACKER”, followed by "VOICE OF TEMPLE BELLS”, a new ballet in three acts based on the epic “Tale of the Heike” specially commissioned to commemorate the opening. Composed by ISHII Maki with choreography by ISHII Jun, this original ballet thrilled audiences with episodes including scenes from the Battle of Dannoura, featuring characters from the Minamoto and Heike clans. Also, various Contemporary Dance pieces by prominent Japanese dancers have been programmed.
