Dated the 18th of February 1879, this newspaper clipping was taken from the New South Wales Government Gazette. The proclamation by the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of New South Wales, Hercules Robinson, offers a reward of 8,000 for the apprehension of the outlaws. The proclamation comes only 8 days after the hold-up of the Bank of New South Wales in the town of Jerilderie on the New South Wales border. It is interesting to note that three quarters of the reward money was paid by the New South Wales Government and the remaining quarter by certain banks trading in the colony. Simultaneously, the Colony of Victoria was offering a reward of 4,000.
