Newspaper clipping from the Gairsoppa

A newspaper clipping sent with a letter, found in the wreck of the SS Gairsoppa in 2011.

Sailor Joe Moolem looked forward to his wife’s cooking in San Francisco, and included in his long letter this newspaper clipping entitled ‘Matrimonial Husbands Wanted’ sharing the qualities of ‘five young and pretty sisters’ an Indian father looks to marry off. Joe teases his wife, writing ‘What do you think about it? Shall I apply for one of them or do you still love me still?... I am longing for your love & kisses’.
