In this area, agricultural field burning is performed by setting about 5,000 square meter to 1 hectare plots alight. The first year is for buckwheat, the second year is for Japanese barnyard millet or foxtail millet, the third year is for adzuki beans (red beans) and the fourth year is for soybeans. After that, the power of the forest is restored setting with the fallow period of about 30 years and agricultural field burning is performed again, so it is a cyclical farming method.
