Age: 4500 million years

UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein

UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein
Essen, Germany

The nickel-iron meteorite is almost 5 billion years old, and thus older than the Earth. This gives rise to far-reaching philosophical reflections on time. It was part of the geological collection of the Krupp family, who also bought it out of metallurgical interest, cut a second parallel piece and had it examined in their laboratories for chemical composition.
