Nicolò Paganini (1784-1840), Italian violin virtuoso, was enthusiastically received at his first public appearance at age nine, and was composing at age eleven. He served Princess Elisa Baciocchi, Napoleon's sister, and was a prominent figure at her court in Lucca. He was considered the most extraordinarily gifted violinist ever known.
