This silk nightgown belonged to Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark (1906–1968). She became Duchess of Kent following her marriage to Prince George, 1st Duke of Kent (1902–1942), in 1934. She was known for her fashionable and elegant style, and her name was repeatedly featured in 'best dressed' lists. She featured in magazines such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Tatler.
The night gown is thought to have been made by the exclusive designer Molyneux. Edward Henry Molyneux (1891–1974) was a leading British fashion designer who opened a salon in Paris in 1919. His designs had a refined, elegant and modern style.. He also designed Princess Marina’s wedding dress.
