By definition, the controller on the Nintendo Wii (2006) should be excluded from this exhibition, as it does not include motion controllers. Looking at the controller more closely, however, reveals a return to Nintendo’s roots. When used vertically, the Wiimote looks like a TV remote, but when turned into the horizontal position, it strongly resembles the NES controller. In fact, it is used exactly like that in many games. The detachable Nunchuck provides a joystick for 3D control, and for more precise control, the optional Classic Controller Pro offers a similar dual analogue stick experience as the competition. The interesting part is that, even here, the Wiimote operates as a sort of a central processing unit, transmitting the controller data to the Wii console over a wireless connection.
