No Known Place is a non-narrative selection of photographs from Commentary on the Apocalypse, Joseph Rushmore’s reportage-style documentary of events such as the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C., civil rights protests, or intimate moments of prayer that capture the cracks in American society but also the hope that moves us to continue. Much of Rushmore’s work centers on what cultural and political theorists have called our “post-truth” reality in which many have turned toward a fascination with conspiracy theories and the apocalypse in an attempt to grapple with the confusion of the modern world. These intimate images are meant to make us question the constructed myths that circulate and to consider the powerful role that images play in our everyday life.
