NO(R)WAY

Portuguese artist ±MaisMenos± is well known for his bold statements serving critical reflections regarding the social and economic impact of political systems on their citizens. The simplicity in his visuals tells a story of opposites, much like the +/- in his name: More/Less, Black/White, Positive/Negative. In this piece, the artist refers to the referenda enacted on joining the EU as a full member, which the Norwegian people rejected both in 1972 and 1994 via popular vote. Norway still enjoys almost complete access to the common market while retaining its own currency and the right to abstain from some political entanglements.
