The reverse holds a bas-relief of a young man listening to the Muse song under a laurel. There is also an engraved line in Latin from the book VI of Virgil's "Aeneid": "Inventas vitam iuvat excoluisse per artes“, "How sweet it is to see human life enriched with discoveries."
