The Tsuri-manako mask is used, like O-tobide, for a thunder god or Zao-gongen (Buddhism patron god). Big eyeballs are sunken in its eye sockets, cheekbones bulge, and tooth lines are exposed. These features produce an eerie atmosphere, which cannot be found in O-tobide.
