Yakan is a name of a Chinese imaginary monstrous creature, but in Japan it was used as another name of a fox. The mask is exclusively used for “Sesshoseki”, in which a monstrous fox disguises itself as a stone and kills people. The mask has a slightly protruding mouth with pointed teeth. Both corners of the mouth rise sharply , which reminds us of a fox.
