Tottenham & District Gas Company exhibit, at the 8th North London Exhibition, Alexandra Palace. The Art Deco booths are constructed in the East Court. The Tottenham & District Gas Co. was originally founded in 1847. Gas was in increasing demand at that time for street and domestic lighting and cooking. Between 1913 and 1928 it amalgamated and absorbed several other small gas companies. In 1948, when the gas industry was nationalised, it came under the Eastern Area Gas Board.
