"I should have been suspicious - at the mere age of five I was more intrigued with my mother's box of scrap fabrics than anything else. I've been sewing for as long as I can remember. My love for appliqué surpasses any other technique in quilting. I feel it gives me the greatest freedom of creative expression. The more intricate, the better - I'm a lover of detail. Nosegay is my smallest piece. I enjoyed working with a round shape and an uneven edge and I've always loved broderie perse. Using all cottons, I created this piece using that technique, which involves cutting out printed images from fabric and appliquéing them. I enjoyed appliquéing fine lines such as the stems; hence the ribbons surrounding the bouquet."
