This notice in The Liberator newspaper advertised the upcoming commemoration of the Boston Massacre and specifically the martyrdom of the first victim to fall, Crispus Attucks. This event, held in the spring of 1863, also used the opportunity of the commemoration to recognize the 54th Regiment, which was in training at the time at Camp Meigs and preparing to depart for service in May of that year.
