The first Quickly was presented to the public in 1953 at the International Bicycle and Motorcycle Exhibition. The moped was marketed by the head of advertising at NSU, A. Westrup, under the slogan “Nie mehr laufen, Quickly kaufen” – “No more walking, buy a Quickly.” Just one year later, sales figures topped the 100,000 mark. The Quickly L (luxury) model shown above was also intended to attract female buyers with its extras. A fully-cased, molded handlebar, a spring-mounted rear wheel, and, above all, the covered rear wheel made riding this moped much more comfortable – even in long skirts!
