This painting reveals a poetics of substance expressed in the absolute chromatic sensualism of the figure, landscape and body. It also evokes the memory of classic painting. Notwithstanding, we are no longer in the presence of the representation of the nude's flesh, but faced with the construction of volumetric values in the wake of Cézanne. Overlaid with chromatic workings, the pleasure and game established between the diverse surfaces and glazings that build the skin is drawn to extreme consequences. The classical value of the flesh is lost. As if dealing with flavour, the body is harmonised with the still life at the foreground and the luxurious vegetation in the background.
