The amateur photographer Joseph Eschenlohr (1886-1978) spent time in Nuremberg and elsewhere between the 1930s and 1950s. On his travels, he captured the city in color slides. This photograph shows a view of the main market from the southeast with a crowd of people on the square, in the middle the beautiful fountain, in the background the towers of the Sebaldus Church. The photo was probably taken in summer/autumn 1938 (September 5-12, 1938 the Nazi party rallies took place in Nuremberg); inscription on the slide frames: "Nürnberg".
