For as long as earthlings have observed celestial bodies, they have imagined what forms life on other planets might be like. The aliens earthlings imagine reveal more about us than they accurately depict other worldly beings. Our aliens, by turns, represent humanoid figures much like us, little green men, monsters, reptiles, large insects and dinosuar-like beings, robotic creatures, and all manner of "foreigners" and aboriginal peoples. The aliens we make up suggest our own struggles with personal and cultural identity.
