An early copyright date of 1875 marks McLoughlin Brothers' game "Life's Mishaps: A Merry Game and Dominoes Rex." Board game manufacturers made combination games to appeal to frugal consumers. Many of these early games came packed in slipcase boxes, which fit easily on home bookcases.
