The Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) is a carnivorous mammal from the Felidae family and Leopardus genre. Also called by the name of “gato-maracajá-verdadeiro, maracajá-açu e gato-do-mato”. It has been one of the most exploited and hunted cats by the fur business. Currently the main threat to this cat is the destruction of its habitat. Monitoring performed in the Private Reserve of Natural Heritage Bulcão Farm identified a family of these species in Atlantic Forest.
