- Details: After the 1st edition held in 2011 and the following and numerous actions produced all over the country and also abroad, the WOOL – Covilhã Urban Art Festival, in this much-desired return to its origins, presented itself in a format of artistic residency, integrating a larger and more diverse range of activities, like murals, an exhibition, participatory action of Urban Art, lectures, talks, guided tours and film screenings. Between the 12th and 26th of October of 2014 at WOOL ON RESIDENCE, we featured five of the most recognized Portuguese urban artists. One of them was ADD FUEL, that dedicated most of his time producing 'Oddments, fragments and scraps'. Alongside with a classically shaped interpretation of a portuguese ceramic tile pattern, he combined several (almost forgotten) fabric patterns typical from the city of Covilhã and redesigned them to create this extensive mural in the center of the city. A remembrance of the old in the city, for the city.
- Biography: Diogo Machado excels in creating imaginary worlds, where he combines fictional characters, decorative elements, a distinctive trait, an omnipresent humor and a remarkable sense of symmetry. In the series of tiles that he stencils and/or lays on the walls, he creates the idea of a trompe l'oeil, leading us to believe that these are scenes inspired in a medieval universe; such is the rigor with which he draws. However, when we're closer and see the tiles carefully, we discover a completely contemporary composition of figures and creatures. It's a pop world, strange, were irony is always present.
