The photograph illustrates the intriguing, tactile score, 'Oh Du Kleines Kabinett' Score by Claudia Molitor for cello (with Bach Bogen), organ, two violins and two violas. Within the instructions for the strings, the performers are given choices (see the image in the lower part of the photograph) to pull across the paper lattice and pick an image / phrases to play. Presumably, the players would spend some time reviewing the score and choose their preferences from the endless permutations. The piece was commissioned by Queens’ College Cambridge in 2006 and the images and graphics play with a distinctly internal, body environment. "Claudia Molitor is a composer, artist and academic whose work draws on the traditions of contemporary classical music but extends to video, performance and fine art practices. Her work often becomes a site where conventions of notation and performance, and qualifications and hierarchies of listening and seeing are interrogated. Exploring the spaces between notions of artistic disciplines is central to her work".
