This wheel-made vessel is coated in a
lead glaze. It has a rounded trefoil mouth,
concave neck, convex body and ring
foot. A foliate handle joins the rim to the
upper part of the body. The lower part
of the body is encircled by impressed
roulette bands. Lead glaze ceramics
were produced to imitate metal vessels
in colour and decoration between the
1st century BC and 1st century AD,
particularly in Syria, Anatolia and
southern Russia (see Meriçboyu 2005, pp.
99-126).
