Old City of Kastoria

Picturesque view of Kastoria, a city situated in the Greek province of South Macedonia and that stands on the shore of Lake Orestiada. The sources say it was founded in the II century BC, but it grew exponentially during the Byzantine, holding up to 60 Byzantine churches.

While some churches of the city are still accessible, others are not because of the unsafe conditions of the buildings. The art pieces found in the churches can be admired inside of the Byzantine Museum of Kastoria.
