This informal view depicts a man walking along the riverbank with his dog, which is enjoying a cooling swim in the river. The bridge linked Studley Park Road, Kew, with Johnston Street, Collingwood. Constructed from timber and iron, it opened in 1858, shortly after the nearby Studley Park Bridge. In 1877 it was replaced by an iron girder and bluestone bridge which, in turn, was replaced with the present reinforced concrete bridge in 1956.
