Old Man

A praying Old Man by the South African artist Danie de Jager (1936-2003) in bronze, done in 1971. This work looks like a self-portrait by the artist. It is an impressionistic image of an old man with a bowed head in a praying position. Short Biography: Danie de Jager was born in 1936 in the district of Germiston. He studied at the Johannesburg Art School. He began to sculpt full-time in 1962. De Jager passed away at his home studio near Hartbeespoort in 2003.
