The film is a medium that recorded every human activity since the 20th century, such as: war, movies, and life. Because of the characteristics of the film, the sides of the film, or perforations, were the place to mark the brand and cut numbers. This section was not meant to have images in it. Using Zu’s custom-made camera, the image could be printed on the perforations. ‘Omni’ means ‘entire’ and the work suggests the general point of view to look at the world. - Critic's Note: Born in JeonNam Goheung, Korea, Zu Doyang received a BA from Dongguk University and a MFA in Seoul. Even with common natural subjects, such as forest or sky, Zu doyang's new perspective makes his images appear artificial. His work embodies the fact that the environment we live in is a fast-evolving collision between the natural and the artificial. The subjects’ shot in the countless original photographs used for these works are clearly natural; similar to those we have in our everyday lives. Yet his completed pieces reveal deeply distorted spaces. The ordinariness and bizarreness, reality and illusion that coexist in his work are truly a unique perspective of the world we live in. At first glance of his work, it is like you are looking at colorful glass ball. As you look closer and focus on each part, familiarities appear. Scenery such as: parks, woods, cities, amusement parks, hotels, and fast-food restaurants are all depicted. When you view the work overall, you are unable to see which is combined with each part; it looks like a totally different space. It is because the disjointed scenery of linear perspective is reconstructed in a new space with multiple point perspective.
