Omochae

This is omocha-e, a toy print. In the upper side are some ukiyo-e cards depicting the portraits of kabuki (Japanese traditional play) actors. People enjoyed selecting a card and putting it on the mirror of dressing table in the middle. The room depicted in this print represents a dressing room of kabuki actors. This omocha-e proves that ukiyo-e was also used as a toy in those days.
