Cigarette card from Raumbild-Verlag, collection 15, image 5, group 67 from a series on Adolf Hitler. The card features a black and white photograph of Hitler riding in a car through Germany. Generally referred to as “Raumbild,” the publishing company was founded by Otto Schönstein in the 1930s and became the de facto publisher for the propaganda arm of the Nazi party. Raumbild curated and published sets of photographs on behalf the Hitler and the Third Reich. Hitler’s personal photographer, Heinrich Hoffmann, even became a silent partner in Raumbild with a 50% stake and took the photographs the company published.
