In 1969 the "Verdi II ° Tipo" banknotes were issued, made by the great engraver Trento Cionini. On the right front Verdi's face stands out on a background shaded from pink to lilac: he's portrayed as he turns his gaze to us, with a severe intensity and a great realism. In the center are summarized the main inscriptions that clearly show the value in numbers and letters, the Governor and the Cashier's signatures and the large vermilion mark with the head of Medusa. On the left, the decoration is completed by the reproduction of the Estense harp, an instrument commissioned by Duke Alfonso II in 1581.
