Märklin’s “Onion Dome” station made an exotic addition to their 1904 line. Drawing inspiration from the Orientalist aesthetic, the toy proved to be one of the firm’s most popular station designs and remained in production for many years. This German example is among the most highly decorated examples known to exist and features nearly all of Märklin’s signature decorative techniques, including hand-painted lettering, decals, trompe l'oeil effects, and cast lead architectural details.
