Open dump - Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

With the influx of tourists, the Dominican Republic has experienced an average growth of 5.5% per year in the GDP. Nevertheless, nearly 40% of the population still lives below the poverty line.
And although the millions of tourists bring hard currencies, also produce an enormous amount of waste. But the country lacks completely of garbage processing facilities: it has 340 open dumps.
