Order of Charles III

Silver, enamel
The order was established by the King of Spain Carlos III on September 19, 1771 to commemorate the birth of Carlos’s grandson Clemente, son of the future King of Spain Charles VI and his wife Maria Luisa. The order was created in honor of Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary.
Motto of the order – VIRTUTI ET MĔRITO – «Courage and merits». The decoration is being awarded till nowadays
