Order of Saint Elizabeth (medal)

The first and only Austrian female order was established by Emperor Franz Joseph I in September 17, 1898 in honor of St. Elizabeth of Thuringia and in commemoration of Empress Elizabeth, the monarch’s wife, murdered in Geneva on September 10, 1898. On the reverse of order has the Empress’s monogram «E». The order was cancelled in 1918
