Order of the Black Eagle

Gold, silver, enamel
Founded on January 17, 1701 by Elector Friedrich III of Brandenburg on his coronation and declaration of the Kingdom of Prussia. The order was intended to be awarded to nobility for outstanding merits to the state. The members of royal family were awarded by birthright. The decoration was cancelled in 1918.
Motto: SUUM CUIQUE – «To each according to his merits»
