A piece made by Shuntai Katō, a ceramist working at the Owari clan’s Onkamaya Kiln and representative of early modern Seto ware. One of the leading master ceramists of the early modern period in Japan, Katō’s pottery work is varied, including oribe, shino, and temishima. This piece makes wonderful full use of the raw materials that are Seto’s natural recourses.
