This early Oriental carpet's origin is not easily identifiable through its design, motifs, or weave; specialists have attributed it to India, Herat (Afghanistan), and Turkey. Because of cross-cultural influence and synthesis across the Middle East and Asia, it is possible that this carpet was made in one locale, but inspired by the techniques of another.
