Mid to late 19th century ballot box used for Orleans Parish elections. The box is hand made of walnut with hand wrought iron hasp hinges and locking mechanism. It is missing one handle as well as missing a padlock and keys. Part of the original decal is still affixed to the side of the box indicating that it was used in an Orleans Parish polling district. The base is a later addition and is designed to be removed.
