Ornithoptera priamis, Common Green Birdwing

O. priamus is a widespread species with almost 100 subspecies. This specimen is from the subspecies O. priamus poseidon. While the species as a whole may be abundant, many of the subspecies are threatened by the destruction of natural habitats. This is a particular issue for those endemic to smaller islands throughout Indonesia.
