Cylindrical in shape, they are about 2.4 inches high and 1 inch wide and attach themselves to the bases of submerged rocks. When eaten, sea anemones have an intense flavor of the sea, iodine, and shellfish. Because they are extremely delicate, it is best to keep them alive in sea water until they are cooked. For this reason, eating them in places other than coastal areas is very difficult—although not impossible—and in cities such as Madrid they can be found in a handful of establishments. However, they are more commonly found in bars and restaurants on the Andalusian coast.
