Otsuka Keizaburo, Mashiko ware

It is widely acknowledged that Otsuka Keizaburo was the founder of Mashiko ware. In 1853, he discovered good quality clay at Ōtsusawa in Mashiko, located within the Kurobane domain. Nearby, he built a kiln that produced everyday kitchen goods.
