Our Lady of the Universe

Devoted to the subject of religion is the series "Religio-us" from them realized, composed
by assemblages that resemble some works by Jeff Koons. In this series, submitted
at the Venice Biennale 2015, the statuettes souvenirs of the crucifix, the Virgin
and the Pope are related with Disney Mickey Mouse dolls, the
"Sleeping Beauty" and "Toy Story." The juxtaposition of the sacred personages,
loaded generally solemn aura, the colorful world of childhood and rowdy
It makes these works unscrupulously fun. The issues discussed by the two
artists have a specific iconography, already codified in the Renaissance; the depiction
themes radically inherent in our artistic tradition through a
modern language so produces a pleasant and temporary blackouts in our
objective view of the works.
The statue of the Virgin inside the spaceship Toy Story, devotion traditionally conferred turns in tribute excited about
little aliens, new evangelized of Catholicism in search of safety.
