"Our Village" Virtual Reality Space

The "Our Village" virtual space is a multiuser social interactive VR experience in which participants from around the globe can meet, converse and visually explore forest communities. You're first dropped into the "Our Village hub," a central meeting ground in the wilderness. You can sit by a fireplace, explore a campsite, and learn about the collective of global indigenous organizations fighting for their forests. You can then take a path to visit the Sungai Utik community, and you will be transported to West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Here you can walk through the life-size "Long House" of the Dayak Iban people, where a young indigenous filmmaker can take you on a tour. Sounds and visuals of children laughing, youth dancing, elders teaching are but a few elements to discover in this user-directed immersive experience.

To enjoy the full experience you would need an Oculus or HTC Vive VR headset, but a 2D experience on your desktop is also possible. This Virtual Reality experience is hosted on the Microsoft platform AltSpaceVR.
