The bright colour range of “Plener malarski”, maintained in green hues, brings French painting to mind. The sunlight brightens the space of the painting, bringing out the painters standing by their easels among the trees. One should note the theme — painters working at easels, which has been a frequent recurrence since the 19th century. Arct depicted his colleagues, who came to the town in order to create paintings outdoors. This way, the artist also emphasised the community nature of such trips, which was important in the context of the definition of an art colony, which assumed that creating a community is the basic feature of this phenomenon.
