Overend, Gurney & Co. share certificate

From the early 1800s Overend,Gurney and Co. had prospered, yet profits tumbled in 1865. It became a limited company and sold shares in an unsuccessful attempt to raise much needed capital, and collapsed only a year later. Its new shareholders lost a substantial part of their investment.
