[inglês][datilografado] Dear Mr. Portinari: The National Society of Mural Painters (of the United States) takes pleasure in informing you that at its last meeting you were elected an Honorary Professional Member. We trust that you will accept this membership, which involves no financial obligation on your part whatever. We will feel honored to carry your distinguished name on our Membership List, and would be most interested to receive from you from time to time, photographs of recent mural commissions, and to exhibit them in our exhibitions. We feel that the setting up of communication and the exchange of information between the artists of the world will help to give a concrete expression so that bond of mutual interest and good feeling which artists do share and which the world so badly needs for the establishment of the lasting peace we all hope for. The National Society of Mural Painters was founded in 1893, and its purpose is to establish and advance the standards of Mural Painting in America, to promote cooperation among mural painters, to represent their interests in major public issues, to hold public exhibitions, to encourage sound education in mural decoration, and to formulate a code of decorative competitions and by-laws to regulate professional practice.
