'Solo for voice 1' is everything but a classical pas de deux. It is far removed from this traditional form of dance. This ballet transcends dance: it is a dialogue between voice and movement. Anne Haenen sings a text of John Cage, in which French, English and Dutch flawlessly merge. The dancers perform a duet through their bodies. Does the movement of the dancers follow the vocals? Or does the singer follow their movements? This ballet reveals these questions, as well as the interdependence between dance and singing.
